TELESPAZIO FRANCE CONNECTING KOUROU AND NATAL

Antenna at the Guiana Space Centre in Kourou - Telespazio France
Telespazio France has been selected by CNES to provide the satcom link between Kourou and Natal. The French space agency is thus renewing its faith in Telespazio France’s teams, which have been operating the link between Kourou and Libreville since early 2016.
After launch, a satellite needs to communicate a lot of information—including telemetry—to ground stations. These so-called ‘downrange’ stations provide partial coverage of the globe to enable the launcher to be tracked continuously.
Natal station, Brazil - Telespazio France
Telespazio France’s teams in French Guiana are already operating and providing through-life support for the Natal downrange tracking station, the second along Ariane 5’s launch trajectory for eastward launches. CNES is thus able to draw on the company’s expertise in operations support for the station and its provision of reliable telecoms connectivity spanning two continents.
